This is an example of the positive reaction I received from a number of football club’s that I approached regarding economic statistics that they could provide.

Reflecting on my Draft Hypothesis Brain Storm Document
After a few hours of research and further reading I have confirmed my area of interest and selected a title for my project. My question will be “do footballers deserve their high wages”. This allows room for me to evidence my interest for economics by explaining and offering my opinion on economic theory. Furthermore I can write about the conflicting moral argument, e.g. Do soldiers deserve to get paid more considering what they do for society.
My research has taken a huge step forward after reading part of “economics of football” by Stephen Dobson as it is a hugely informative read and demonstrated to me just how much there is to expand upon within this subject.

Reflecting on my Draft Hypothesis Brain Storm Document
I am confident that my area of interest is ‘the economics of football’, it is now a matter of finalising my draft hypothesis as well as ensuring there is enough information and statistics to create a project on it. My plan of action is to continue to research whilst recording its source and then I will have a better idea of the specific path of study I will take.
EPQ Research Log
I have decided that my research project will be based around ‘The economics of football’, I have decided this as I feel it gives a great opportunity for me to show my interest in economic reasoning as well as being a very interesting topic for me personally due to my love of football. I am yet to narrow down my research much further than this although I have e-mailed various Premier League Football Club’s asking for statistics or information on the club’s economics. I have received mixed responses but it has proven to be a valuable use of time because some have responded with very useful information that I will use during the course of this project.
Also I have signed up for the Future Learn online course ‘developing your research project’ which promises to give great structure to my project as well as allowing discussion to take place between me and various other people undergoing a similar project.
